Hello, hello! I'm excited to finally present my latest personal project! This is a character I made while following along Sefki Ibrahim's Hyperreal Character Creation Course for UE 5.

This project definitely challenged my observational skills of cloth, hair, and anatomy. I don't think I can ever look at a pair of overalls the same again after this, but I am very happy with how it all turned out! The shirt and upper half of the overalls were simulated in Marvelous Designer. I couldn't quite shape the lower half to my liking, so I used a scan of jeans that I found on Polycam instead. The bandana was modeled and sculpted from scratch.

I also got to challenge my technical skills while I learned Unreal's MetaHuman pipeline. I felt like I had to graduate from hacker school at certain points to get things working, but ultimately, I am no stranger to band-aid fixes. The braids were a definite challenge. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself, but this is my third time making a character with braids. Once was geo, the other was cards, and this one was strands. I couldn't quite figure out how to get the braids to stop falling apart with the real-time simulation, so I created a custom Xgen interactive groom and sculpted it to fit the end pose. Next time, buzz cut.

Anyways, thanks for taking a look! Hope you enjoy!
